The President of the Republic meets the Ministers of National Education and Higher Education: “National exams are a red line” | The Press of Tunisia

During this interview, the head of state reiterated that he would not allow anyone to disrupt or endanger the national exams, according to a press release from the President of the Republic.

The audience was granted yesterday at the Palace of Carthage by the President of the Republic, Kaïs Saïed, the Minister of Education Saloua Abbassi and the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, temporarily in charge at the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, Moncef Boukthir, focused on “the preparation of national examinations and the ongoing preparations in coordination with all state institutions to ensure that they run smoothly“.

At this meeting, the Head of State reiterated that the national exams represent a red line and that he will not allow anyone to disrupt or interfere with them, according to a press release from the President of the Republic.

The focus of the interview was also the draft law on the composition of the University Council, its responsibilities and its working methods, provided for in the ninth chapter of the constitution of July 25, 2022.

The President of the Republic underlined the importance of this constitutional institution and recalled that one of the greatest crimes against the Tunisian people since the beginning of the 90s of the last century has been the gradual revision of policies for political reasons.

In addition, the President of the Republic reiterated the need to find definitive solutions to the situation of teachers and substitute teachers, based on objective criteria, while respecting their rights and those of students.

At another level, the head of state also approved a review of certain academic sections of higher education that do not open up prospects for students in Tunisia and whose diplomas only find prospects abroad, otherwise they remain unemployed.

Saïed also stressed the need to review the cultural policy in Tunisia so that it becomes a national culture based on real freedom of thought and creativity, protecting society from both vulgarity and extremism, because without national education and without national culture there is no future for people.
